What is Eccky? (^ back to top)
Eccky is a game in which you create a virtual character, together with another person or with a Speccky (a special Eccky character). It's your job to raise your Eccky and make him/her as happy as possible. If you make an Eccky with another person, both of you can play with and contribute to raising Eccky, and if you make an Eccky with a Speccky, you raise your Eccky alone.
There are many ways to interact with your Eccky and give your Eccky the attention and care he/she needs to be happy and healthy: feeding, playing games, shopping, and chatting are among them. The game lasts for six days, after which point your Eccky is grown and goes off into the wide world. Your care and interaction determines how happy (or not!) you’re Eccky will be, and how happy your Eccky is determines your overall player status score.
How much does Eccky cost to play? (^ back to top)
It is completely free to register with Eccky and also free to play Eccky Basic.
If you would like to experience all that Eccky has to offer, you can purchase an Eccky Platinum Membership. These memberships range from $3.95 to $34.95.
See the Eccky Platinum Membership section for more details.
What is the difference between Eccky Basic and Eccky Platinum? (^ back to top)
Eccky Basic is entirely free to use and is meant to give you a sample or trial of the game play. We offer a limited amount of 'real ecckies' for Basic users to create for free! Or, if we have run out, you can still play Eccky by picking an Eccky from the Basic bunch (who are a group of Ecckies who are fixed at a certain age).
An Eccky Platinum membership entitles you to access all of the Eccky Basic functionality plus lots MORE!
What is Eccky Platinum?
- Get VIP treatment - You'll never have to wait to make your Ecckies
- Make more Ecckies - You can have not 1 but 2 Ecckies at once
- Gain access to more locations and minigames
- Play Eccky single player
How long does the game last? (^ back to top)
If you are playing with one of the Basic Bunch, your interaction with them will be session based. So what you do with one of the Basic Bunch Ecckies will be reset once you select another Eccky from the Basic Bunch.
If you have your own Eccky, every eight hours of the day Eccky ages one "Eccky year", which means that in a day, Eccky will grow three Eccky years. After six days of gameplay, Eccky grows to be 18, and then the game is over.
Can I play Eccky by myself? (Platinum only)(^ back to top)
Yes, if you have a membership, you can. You can either play together with someone you know, and invite him or her to make an Eccky (called the multi-player version), or you can make an Eccky with a Speccky (a special Eccky character) and raise and play with your Eccky by yourself (called the single-player version).
How many Ecckies am I allowed to make? (^ back to top)
Users without a Platinum Membership can only make their own Ecckies if any are available. You are only able to make 1 Eccky at a time if you are without a membership.
Users with an active Platinum Membership can make 2 of their own Ecckies at a time, without having to wait for some to be available. Once your Ecckies have left home, you are able to make another one!
If you think you could handle more than 2 at once, just get one of your friends to send you an Eccky invite.
How do I "turn off" or "stop" Eccky? (^ back to top)
If you're talking about stopping playing with your Eccky, you can do that at any time. Just click the ‘logout’ button in the bottom right corner of the interface. Of course, your Eccky always appreciates as much time as you can spend with him/her, and the more time spent the better! But your Eccky him/herself doesn't turn off… he/she is around continuously for the six days of gameplay, and will leave at the end of six days. If, during the six-day period, you feel like having a break from caring for your Eccky, you can always send your Eccky off for a vacation: to be spent at a resort, or being cared for by someone you know.
If you're talking about your Eccky account in general, you always have the option of not playing Eccky even if you have an account, so your account doesn't have to be closed or deleted simply because you're not playing. However, if for any reason you DO want to delete your Eccky account, you can always do so by clicking on the "Settings" button, and clicking on My Account Settings, and then on "Un-register". Remember, though, that if you delete your Eccky account, you delete all settings, preferences, your personalized avatar, your Ecckies, and all credits (whether given as your allowance or earned separately).
Credits and memberships are non-refundable. So make absolutely sure that you want to delete your Eccky account before going through with the deletion process.
I've forgotten my password! What do I do? (^ back to top)
Don't worry. :) If you ever forget your Eccky password and can't log into your account, just click on "Forgotten password" in the log-in screen. You'll fill in your e-mail address and then be sent a message with a link to change your password.
Who's "playing" my Eccky? (^ back to top)
We get that question all the time and, believe it or not, there's no "person" behind your Eccky. Not even in the chat… Your Eccky is your own, virtual character! :) Now, even though your Eccky isn't a real person, your Eccky has plenty of needs that you have to take care of, if you want your Eccky to be the happiest possible. And, your Eccky has lots of characteristics of a real person… Your Eccky can come in all shapes and sizes, be happy or sad, be sassy or shy, etc. And most of all, each Eccky has a unique personality!
Registration/Your Eccky Account
How do I register? (^ back to top)
Registration on Eccky is easy, as we take you through all the steps, all the way through the process…
Go to Eccky game site and click on the button that reads "Start here", located at the very bottom of the game start screen: that's your door to the registration process. You'll be led through each step of the process and, until you've completed registration, you can always go back in the process and can even make adjustments to certain things you’ve entered. Later on, you'll be able to change most things you entered at registration in the My Account Settings tab in the game.
Will my personal registration information be kept private and safe? (^ back to top)
Yes. Eccky takes great care in keeping the personal information you give us private and safe. Please review the Eccky Privacy Policy for more information on the security of your personal information.
How can I change my account information? My password? (^ back to top)
When you're logged into the game, you can change some of the information in your account at any time. Just click on the Settings button, and that will bring up a window containing a number of tabs. The Me tab allows you to change you personal avatar and your DNA settings. The My Profile Settings tab allows you to access and make changes to your profile information and your account information. You'll want to click on My Account Settings to change your account information. Please note: some of the information you use at registration can't be changed, as it's a permanent part of your account (such as your first and last name, your birthdate, and your gender). You can, however, change your:
- MSN address
- E-mail address
- State and city of residence
- Your cell phone number, and
- Your password.
You can also un-register in the My Account Settings tab.
Why can't I change certain pieces of account information, like my name and birth date? (^ back to top)
Some parts of your account information, such as your birth date, and first and last name are permanent parts of your Eccky account and cannot be changed. If you need to change these parts of your Eccky account, the best thing to do is create a new Eccky account.
What are the strength requirements for my password? (^ back to top)
We require that all users protect their accounts with passwords of sufficient strength, which means that your password must be at least 6 characters long. This counts for when you first register on Eccky, and if you go into your account settings and change your password. Check out the Safety Guide for a few tips on how to create a strong password.
How do I delete or un-register my Eccky account? (^ back to top)
Though we hate to see anyone go, you can of course un-register your Eccky account at any time, and for any reason (or no reason!). When you're logged in the game, click on the Settings button, then on the My Settings tab, then on the My Account Settings button, and towards the bottom of the screen you'll see the "Un-register" button… just click on it and follow the instructions.
Your Profile and Personal Profile Page
How do I make my own Eccky user profile page? (^ back to top)
When you register at Eccky and create your personal avatar, your profile page gets created automatically using the information from your registration and your personal avatar.
Once you're registered and have dressed up your personal avatar you can click on the Settings button, and then click on My Profile Page, to check out how your profile page looks.
Can I use my Eccky-style personalized avatar as my MSN avatar or on my own personal website? (^ back to top)
Yes, you may use your Eccky-style personalized avatar as your MSN avatar, but there are restrictions on how you may use Eccky artwork, as all Eccky artwork belongs to Eccky. Make sure you read through the Eccky Terms of Use for a full explanation of how you can and can't use Eccky artwork.
Can I delete messages from other people from my profile page? (^ back to top)
You can delete messages that others leave on your profile page by clicking on the waste basket icon on the message itself.
Someone's left a nasty message on my profile page. What do I do? (^ back to top)
Eccky defines a number of House Rules that outline acceptable and unacceptable Eccky user behavior. Leaving nasty messages on other players' profiles is one type of behavior that's unacceptable at Eccky. If another registered user does this to you, make sure you report it to Team Eccky immediately. You can report abuse by clicking here, where you'll be re-directed to a contact form with which to let us know about the abuse you've experienced on the site. Eccky takes reports of inappropriate user behavior very seriously, and we'll investigate the matter and deal with it and with the user in question as necessary.
What is the status score? (^ back to top)
Your status score is an average of the final happiness scores of your Ecckies when they leave home. The happiness score of each Eccky will influence the status score for 50 days after it has left home. This score is basically an indicator of how good an Eccky player you are. ;)

The Game, Explained, Part 1: Making Ecckies
How do I begin playing the game? (^ back to top)
You start the game by going to the Eccky game site and logging in. You have to be registered to log in, so if you're not registered you need to complete registration first. When you're logged in, you will be in either the Eccky Basic or Eccky Platinum version depending on whether you have an active Platinum Membership or not.
If you are in Eccky Basic, you can make your own Eccky (if available) or choose one of the Eccky Basic Bunch to play with and start exploring. If you are in Eccky Platinum, you can either choose to play with one of the Basic Bunch (with limited functionality) or make your own Eccky!
What are the DNA settings and my personal avatar? How do they affect how my Eccky looks and behaves? (^ back to top)
Your DNA settings and your own personal avatar come together to determine many of your Eccky's characteristics. Your DNA settings largely determine your Eccky's personality and non-physical characteristics, and your personal avatar and how you set it up determines in large part how your Eccky will look.
The DNA settings are a collected set of your personal characteristics. You get to allot a specific number of points to each characteristic, thus determining the value or strength of each characteristic. You start with 200 total DNA points with your first Eccky, to distribute as you want over all of your personal characteristics. The more points you allot to each characteristic, the stronger that characteristic is.
The personal avatar is a little Eccky-style representation of you. You can adjust everything from hairstyle to facial shape to eyes, to the clothes and accessories you use to dress your "Mini-You". ;)
Then, your settings and avatar are combined with those of your buddy (or with those of the Speccky you make your Eccky with), then a bit of a random factor is added in there, to make your unique Eccky!
How do I make an Eccky?(^ back to top)
Just go to the Eccky game site to log-in. Once you're logged in, you can start making Ecckies! Click on the Ecckies button to bring up the My Ecckies menu. Then click on "Create a new Eccky", and if you are a member, you'll see two options for making an Eccky: you can invite someone you know to make an Eccky, or you can make an Eccky with a Speccky (a special Eccky character). If you don't have a membership, you will only see one option to make an Eccky
If you want to invite someone you know, click on "Invite a Friend to make an Eccky" and then follow the directions: include the friend's name and e-mail address, and then choose a girl's name and a boy's name for your Eccky. Your friend will get an e-mail invitation with instructions on how to accept the invitation. Remember, no one is obligated to accept an Eccky invitation so your friend can choose to accept your invite or not. If your friend accepts, you’re Eccky will be appear in your Eccky overview.
If you'd like to make an Eccky with a Speccky instead and play alone, click on that option, choose a Speccky with whom to make your Eccky, give your potential Eccky two names (a boy's name and a girl's name), and then send it through. Once you do this your Eccky should arrive immediately in your Eccky overview.
When does my Eccky arrive?(^ back to top)
Once invitations have been sent and accepted and then once an Eccky has been paid for, Eccky arrives immediately! And gets added automatically to your MSN contact list.
How do I accept an invitation? (^ back to top)
The short version is, when someone sends you an Eccky invitation e-mail, all you do is click on "accept" in the invitation and follow the link and the instructions.
Remember, you're never obligated to accept an Eccky invitation from ANYONE. It's totally up to you, so be cautious if you ever receive an invitation from someone you don't know, or whose name you don't recognize…
Both Basic and Platinum Eccky users can accept invitations.
If you do choose to accept the invitation, click on "accept", which will take you to the Eccky game site. You need to be registered on Eccky to accept the invitation, so when you get to the site, you'll either log in or register. Then once you're logged in, you complete the invitation by choosing two names for your Eccky (a boy's name and a girl's name). Once they have gone through you’ve got an Eccky to raise and play with!
Can I accept Eccky invites if I don't have a membership? (^ back to top)
Of course! Both Basic and Platinum Eccky users can accept invitations.
What do I do with Ecckies-in-waiting? e.g., when an invitation hasn't been accepted? (^ back to top)
Any Eccky-in-waiting (that is, if an Eccky hasn't been made because of an unaccepted invitation), and its status, will show up in your My Ecckies menu. How you proceed will depend on how far along you are in the Eccky-making process. If you're waiting for a friend to accept your invitation, you may just want to wait a while and give your friend a chance to accept it.
If you know that you don't want to go further with an invitation or an Eccky-in-waiting, you can simply delete it. Just click on the Eccky-in-waiting and you’ll have an option to click "Delete this Eccky Invitation".
If you know that you don't want to go further with an invitation or an Eccky-in-waiting, you can simply delete it. Just click on the Eccky-in-waiting and you’ll have an option to pay for it or to delete it. Then click "Delete this Eccky".
Can I make an Eccky with my Eccky? (^ back to top)
Eeeeh, no. :) You can’t make an Eccky with your Eccky. You can make Ecckies with other registered users and with some Specckies, but not with other Ecckies. Those are the rules.
Can I delete an Eccky from my Eccky overview?(^ back to top)
You can't delete an Eccky in the Eccky overview. Just ask the other parent to raise the Eccky or send your Eccky on vacation :).
I still have questions about making Ecckies, but I don't see my answer here. Who can I ask? (^ back to top)
CoolDude and CutieGrrl are our resident experts on making Ecckies. If you have any questions about making Ecckies that AREN'T answered here in the FAQ, you can visit their profiles pages (click here for CoolDude's page and click here for CutieGrrl's page) and leave messages on the profile pages for either one. They'll get back to you with a response on your profile page.
The Game, Explained Part 2: Raising Your Eccky
What do I do with my Eccky? (^ back to top)
That's a big question… :) As a Eccky Basic user, you have the chance to create your own Eccky (if available) or you can pick an Eccky from the Basic Bunch and explore the Eccky world with them. You can try things on your Eccky but cannot buy anything for them. You can also play mini games and quizzes with them. The Basic Bunch’s happiness levels cannot be affected as they are only meant to demonstrate interaction.
When you have your own Eccky, your goal is to make your Ecckies as happy as possible. Lots of loving care and attention for Eccky will make your Eccky happy, and the more of that you can give, the better. There are tons of interactions you can have with your Eccky in the game, like chatting, playing games, giving your Eccky enough to eat and drink, and taking your Eccky shopping for clothes and other cool stuff… And you're helped along in the game by indicators that’ll tell you periodically what your Eccky needs. Further, you can click on the Eccky status button at any time in the game to find out exactly how your Eccky is doing with respect to needs, e.g., if you're Eccky needs to go to the bathroom, if your Eccky is hungry, etc., to give you an idea of exactly what you need to do.
How do I go to different places, or change locations, in Eccky?(^ back to top)
There are several locations to visit in Eccky and all of them can be traveled to using the navigator button. It's the button with the up-down and side-to-side arrows on it at the bottom of the screen. Click on it and all location options will be displayed in a pop-up window, and in different tabs, depending on what kind of location it is.
Can my Eccky die? (^ back to top)
Don't worry, your Eccky can't die. BUT, your Eccky can decide, if he/she isn't getting enough attention from you, to run away from home. And there's no getting your Eccky back after that… :(
How do I change the color of my Eccky's skin? (^ back to top)
When you change your own skin color this will automatically effect your newborn Ecckies. You can change your avatars skin color in the game at the 'Me' tab and 'My looks'.
Can I e-mail my Eccky? (^ back to top)
No, unfortunately you can't send e-mails to your Eccky. But you can play with your Eccky in the Eccky virtual world, chat with your Eccky in-game, and in MSN.
Can I call my Eccky, skype with him/her, or share a webcam? (^ back to top)
Unfortunately, we can't support any of those functions yet, so no, you can't call, skype, or share a webcam with your Eccky… but we're hard at work trying to improve on the current technology. Maybe one of these days ;)
I've sent my Eccky to be looked after by a babysitter. How do I get him/her back?(^ back to top)
An Eccky who's been sent off to a babysitter will not come back on his/her own. You'll need to bring him/her back by logging into the game, bringing up the My Ecckies menu, and clicking on your out-of-town Eccky's status bar. You'll then see an option to "retrieve your Eccky". Click it, and your Eccky will be returned home directly.
Where can I buy clothes for my Eccky?(^ back to top)
You cannot buy clothes for the Basic Bunch. For your own Ecckies, currently there are two places in the game to take your Eccky shopping for clothing and accessories: the Fashion Center and the Boutique store. Just click on the navigator button in the game, and go to the Let's Shop tab (this tab is where all of the shops are located). There you'll find the Fashion Center and the Boutique. Then just click on where you want to go!
How do I feed my Eccky? (^ back to top)
The Basic Bunch have limited items in their kitchen fridge for you to feed them with.
If you have your own Eccky, you'll do most of your feeding in the kitchen, although you need to buy food at the supermarket first. To do that, just click on the navigator and go to the Let's Shop tab, and then the Supermarket. You can also just click on the shopping list on the fridge to be redirected to the supermarket. Once you've purchased food for Eccky at the supermarket, the food will be delivered to the kitchen automatically. When you're back in the kitchen, just click on the kitchen cabinets or the refrigerator to bring up the entire selection of purchased food. Just click on a food item and drag it over to Eccky. And check out Eccky's reaction… ;) You can also give Eccky snacks and drinks (but not whole meals) at other locations like the playground, the hang-out, and the movie theater
How often (and much) does Eccky have to eat? (^ back to top)
Eccky needs to eat regularly, which generally means breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and maybe some snacks in between. What's important, though, is that you pay attention to Eccky's hunger meter, and the needs icons that will appear above Eccky's head, to let you know what Eccky needs at any given time. Meaning, when Eccky is hungry, for example, you'll see a knife and fork icon over Eccky's head, and that means that you need to get something for Eccky to eat.
Why is my Eccky’s happiness level so low even though I'm taking care of his/her needs? (^ back to top)
Eccky needs lots of attention, and all kinds of it. Though you may be taking care of some of your Eccky's basic needs, you may not be taking care of everything, and most importantly not, consistently enough… Go back and check your Eccky's overall status, using the Eccky's Status button. Then scroll down and check all of Eccky's meters. Are there any meters that could use some improvement? If so, Eccky could use some more attention in that area… also, and maybe more importantly, you need to make sure that you check these meters often enough during the six-day period, so that the care and attention remain consistent. Giving your Eccky enough consistent attention in all areas is the key to making your Eccky happy!
How do I make my Eccky go to sleep? (^ back to top)
Right about nighttime (generally between 9pm and 9am), or whenever you notice your Eccky's sleep meter get low (which means that Eccky needs sleep), take your Eccky to the bedroom and put him/her to bed. Click on the nightstand lamp to put out the light. Once the light is out, Eccky will go to sleep on his/her own. Your Eccky's need for sleep will depend on how much activity your Eccky is getting, how old he/she is, what you input into your DNA settings, etc.
You may notice sometimes that your Eccky will have come out of bed on his/her own after having been put to bed… oh well, that's Eccky!… ;)
How can I see who Eccky likes best (when I'm raising an Eccky with another player)? (^ back to top)
When you're in the game, just click on the Eccky's Status button, and then click on the Eccky Info tab. That tab provides you with a couple of Eccky's vital stats: age, gender, weight, and maybe most importantly, who's doing the better job of raising and caring for Eccky… ;)
Can I see other Eccky players in the game? (^ back to top)
Yes, you can! There are a couple of places to interact with other players in Eccky. First, you can talk to and interact with other players and leave messages for each other via the personal profile pages and on the Eccky player forum. Then there's the Town Square, which is a location in the game where you can see avatars of other registered players (they won't necessarily be logged in at that time). Any player avatar you see in the town square can be clicked on to bring up that player's stats. Further, you can click on the player's stats to bring up the player's full profile page. The town square will, by default, be for your city of residence, and the avatars you see will be for players who are also from your city. However you can change town square locations (by clicking on the city name sign) to visit other towns' squares, and see avatars for players from those cities.
I still have questions about raising my Eccky/ies, but I don't see my answer here. Who can I ask? (^ back to top)
MissKnowItAll is the one to ask for any questions about raising Ecckies. If you have any questions about raising Ecckies that AREN'T answered here in the FAQ, you can visit MissKnowItAll's profile page and leave a message. She'll get back to you with a response on your profile page.
Chatting
How do I chat with my Eccky? (^ back to top)
There are two ways to chat with your Eccky. Firstly, you can chat with your Eccky in-game. Once you've logged into the game and have selected an Eccky to play with from your My Ecckies menu, you'll notice a small icon with a speech bubble on it. Click it to bring up a chat window, where you can immediately start talking to your Eccky!
The second way to chat with your Eccky is via MSN Messenger. You'll want to include your MSN address during the Eccky registration process (just follow the instructions provided during registration). You'll, of course, need to have an MSN account, and have MSN Messenger downloaded to your computer. Then, whenever you make an Eccky, that Eccky gets added to your MSN contact list, and you're set to chat with Eccky over MSN… just open up an MSN Messenger chat window to chat away!
It can happen sometimes that you may have problems with your Eccky being added to your MSN contact list. If that's the case, check to make sure that you've entered the correct MSN address into your Eccky account. You can go back and check this in the My Account Settings tab when you're logged in the game. Beyond making sure that's correct in your settings, you can add your existing Eccky to your MSN contact list manually using the MSN address provided to you in the welcome message you get following Eccky's arrival. Just check out the PS at the end of that e-mail to find your Eccky's MSN address.
Is it better to chat with Eccky in the game or via MSN Messenger? (^ back to top)
Whether you chat with your Eccky in-game or via MSN Messenger is entirely up to you. :) We think the chat element of the game is one of the things that makes Eccky really special, and want to offer the possibility to players in every way we can. That means that you can chat with your Eccky even if you don’t have MSN Messenger. But if you do have MSN Messenger, you can have you Eccky there on your list as a contact as well!
Can I also chat and play with other people's Ecckies? (^ back to top)
No, an Eccky can generally only chat with the players who are raising him/her. On the other hand, if someone you know has an Eccky, you can chat with that Eccky if you are babysitting him/her, in which case you take on the full responsibility of caring for that Eccky as well as being able to chat and play with that Eccky.
Credits
What are credits? (^ back to top)
Eccky credits are the currency used in the Eccky virtual world. Credits are used to purchased things for your Eccky, such as clothing, accessories, food, drinks, and other items. Credits can only be used to buy items for Eccky in the game. They can't be used to pay for a Platinum Membership.
How do I get credits in the game? (^ back to top)
You get an initial 300 credits for every Eccky you make... which should be enough to buy some clothes and snacks for your new Eccky. After that it is up to you to earn enough credits to look after your Eccky.
In the navigator you will see a tab named ‘Gimme Credits’. Here you will find a Employment Agency location. There are job there (mini games) which you can play to earn credits. They higher your score the more credits you will earn! At the end of each game, the credits you have earned will be deposited into your wallet.
Where can I see how many credits I have? (^ back to top)
Your credit total is displayed at all times when you're logged into the game. The button at the bottom right of the screen with the number figure and coins icon displays how many credits you have. Clicking on that button will take you into your Eccky credits account (or "Eccky wallet") and it gives you an itemized list of all of your credit transactions in the game.
Can I use my Eccky credits to pay to make an Eccky? (^ back to top)
No. Eccky credits can only be used in the game environment to pay for things for your Eccky. They cannot be used to pay for an Eccky Platinum Membership.
Can I play with and pay for Eccky if I'm not located in the US? (^ back to top)
Good question… we're happy to allow as many people as possible (and from as many places in the world as possible!) to play Eccky. We also have a Dutch version of Eccky (our first version of Eccky!), that's available for players in the Netherlands and located at www.eccky.nl. We're in development to make Eccky available to players in even more countries, so be on the lookout! ;)
I still have questions about credits and payments in Eccky, but I don't see my answer here. Who can I ask? (^ back to top)
Cash is the man you want to see about all credits and payment questions. If you have any questions about credits and payments that AREN'T answered here in the FAQ, you can visit Cash's profile page and leave a message. He'll get back to you with a response on your profile page.
If you have specific questions about payments that would require you to provide us specific personal information or any information about your account or transactions, please submit your question by sending us an e-mail. Messages left on Speccky profile pages (and on your own profile page) are public, and we do not want them to be a forum for making public any information of yours that should remain private.
Technical Questions/Troubleshooting
What are the minimum system requirements to play Eccky? (^ back to top)
Eccky has very few minimum system requirements to play the game at the Eccky game site. You only need an internet connection (preferably a broadband connection), you need to have installed an Adobe Flash Player 9 (click here to install Flash Player 9 if you don't already have it), and you can also benefit from the MSN-based chat function if you have MSN/Windows Live Messenger installed on your computer (though you can also chat with Eccky in-game). It's recommended that you have the latest versions of these applications. Lastly, Eccky is best viewed when your computer screen is set to 1024x768 resolution, and viewed on Internet Explorer 6 or newer, or Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or newer.
What version of MSN Messenger do I need in order to chat with my Eccky? (^ back to top)
You can chat with Eccky on any version of MSN Messenger, but later versions are always recommended, so MSN/Windows Live Messenger 6 or newer. Of course you can also chat with Eccky in the game itself. If you don't already have MSN Messenger on your computer you can download it here.
Do I need a Flash player in order to play Eccky? (^ back to top)
Yes, you need to have an Adobe Flash Player 9 in order to play Eccky, as the Eccky virtual world environment is based in Adobe Flash. If you don't already have Flash Player 9, you can download it here. Very often, if you don't already have Flash Player and you try to open up the Eccky game, you'll be automatically directed to install Flash Player, so you can also just follow those instructions for Flash Player installation.
I'm trying to start Eccky, but all I see is a blank screen. Why? (^ back to top)
Because the Eccky game is large and contains lots of detail, it can sometimes take time for the whole game to load. This can often take even longer with slower internet connections. Just waiting a while can sometimes solve the problem...
You can also try emptying the cache on your computer. This means that you want to flush out any older files associated with the Eccky site that your browser might be holding in storage. Go into the "Tools" drop-down menu and then "Internet Options" in your internet browser. Most browsers will have a section on Browsing History. Go into that section, and click on the button available to "Delete Temporary Internet Files". Then close Eccky, and start it up again in a new browser window.
My Eccky suddenly went offline in MSN... why? (^ back to top)
Sometimes when we put a new version of Eccky online, Ecckies go offline temporarily, in which case you can be sure that we're working on getting your Ecckies back on line as quickly as we can. Your Eccky going offline can also happen as a result of MSN not working temporarily. MSN has a status page that allows you to check whether MSN Messenger service is functioning properly or not.
I've made an Eccky but my Eccky isn't showing up on my MSN list. What's happening? (^ back to top)
It could be that you didn't put the correct MSN address into your account information during registration. To verify that your MSN address is correct, click on the "Settings" button in the game and then go the Settings tab. Then click on My Account Settings, where you'll be able to make any necessary changes to your MSN address. Once you've made sure that your MSN address is correct in your account settings, go into your Eccky's arrival announcement e-mail. At the very bottom you'll see your Eccky's MSN address, with which you can add your Eccky manually to your MSN contact list. Remember, also, that if for any reason you're having trouble chatting with your Eccky via MSN Messenger, you can also chat with your Eccky right in the game itself! Just click on the chat button to open up the in-game chat window.
I've accidentally deleted my Eccky from my MSN contact list. What do I do? (^ back to top)
You can add your Eccky back into your MSN contact list manually. First, go into your Eccky’s arrival announcement e-mail. At the very bottom you'll see your Eccky's MSN address, with which you can add your Eccky manually to your MSN contact list.
I know that someone has sent me an invitation to make an Eccky but I haven't received it. Where is it? (^ back to top)
Lots of e-mail accounts are really good at filtering out messages these days, so it could be that your invitation e-mail is sitting in a spam or junk mail folder, so check those folders if you have any. It could also be that the sender did not enter your e-mail address correctly into the invitee e-mail address field in the invitation, in which case the invitation won't be able to be delivered successfully to you. You may want to ask the inviting player to delete that invitation in the player's "My Ecckies" menu, and to send you a new one, making sure that the invitation is sent to the correct address.
The "My Ecckies" menu says that my Eccky is "busy" and that I can't play with him/her. Why? (^ back to top)
The Eccky game is located on a server that works very hard to keep all of your Ecckies in a playable state. It deals with lots of Ecckies at once and can sometimes get overloaded. This is what we mean when we say that your Eccky's "busy". ;) We appreciate your patience when things like this happen. Just come back later that day and give it another try.

House Rules and Abuse
What are the Eccky House Rules? (^ back to top)
We at Eccky have a couple of House Rules that we expect all of our players to know and follow. The rules are a code of conduct, that tell players how to play safely and respectfully for the sake of the entire Eccky-playing community. They're always available on the website here, for you to review. In fact, we even suggest that you keep them somewhere saved on your computer or printed out for your own reference. It is very important that you understand and are familiar with the House Rules, as it is your responsibility as a Eccky player to abide by these rules. You risk having your account deleted and being banned from the site if you don’t follow them. Also, if you see another Eccky player violating any of the House Rules, we urge you to report these actions by clicking here. You’ll be re-directed to a contact form where you can let us know about the abuse.
How do I report abuse? (^ back to top)
We take reports of site abuse very seriously and will investigate every report of abuse and take whatever action we feel is necessary and appropriate in response to abuse reports. You can report abuse by clicking here, where you’ll be re-directed to a contact form with which to let us know about the abuse you’ve seen on the site.
What do I do if another player is bothering me? (^ back to top)
Another Eccky user bothering you, or acting in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, is a violation of the Eccky House Rules and behavior that you should report to the Eccky Team. In fact, any other behavior that isn't permitted in the Eccky community, as outlined in the House Rules, should be reported immediately. You can report this abuse by clicking here, where you'll be re-directed to our contact form.
What will Team Eccky do when a person does something he/she isn't supposed to on the site? (^ back to top)
Team Eccky has a penalty system in place for when users violate the House Rules, or any of the guidelines laid out in the Terms of Use. The penalty for an infraction will depend on the nature and severity of the infraction, and the kind of action we take will be at our discretion. That is, penalties can vary from being warned and flagged by the Eccky Team, to being banned from Eccky permanently. Depending on the violation, penalties can go far beyond those already mentioned, to include penalties imposed not only by Team Eccky but also by appropriate law enforcement agencies. Team Eccky reserves the right contact law enforcement agencies to report activity on our site that violates any applicable law.
Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
What is the Eccky Privacy Policy? (^ back to top)
Eccky is a game that collects and uses some personal information from users during registration, and the Eccky Privacy Policy is the policy that outlines why and when we collect personal information from you, what we use it for, and how we keep it private. Click here to see the Eccky Privacy Policy. In fact, we insist that users understand the terms of our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and House Rules before playing the game, and at all times while they are registered users of the site.
What are the Eccky Terms of Use? (^ back to top)
The Eccky Terms of Use is an agreement between you and Eccky that outlines what we provide to you with respect to the services on our game site, and what we expect from you as an Eccky player. It is a legal contract, and contains a lot of legal language, which is why we provide you with a shorter version (which is much easier to read and understand) and a longer version (which is likely much harder to read and containing more "legal language"). Click here to see the entire Eccky Terms of Use. Your use of the Eccky site is considered to be agreement with the Terms of Use, so make sure you read, understand, and abide by them if you play Eccky. If you're under 18, you need to have your parents take a look at the Terms of Use as well because your use of the site will be considered agreement to the Terms by your parents as well.
