History
Eccky enjoys a rich and diverse history. It was first introduced in august 2005 by Dutch developer Media Republic and in association with MSN in the Netherlands. The gameplay of this first version of Eccky involved a virtual baby, or Eccky, which was born on the basis of information derived from two players or “parents”. In 2006, Eccky became an independent company as a subsidiary of Media Republic. Eccky 1.0, as it is sometimes referred to nowadays, was closed down in 2007.
In 2009 the Dutch/Chinese developer TribePlay created a new version of Eccky and launched it on Hyves as one of the first virtual worlds on a social network. In april 2010 Eccky Holding BV was launched. Eccky Holding BV is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Currently, Eccky is integrated into Hyves and Facebook and can also be played on Eccky's own portal. Players can chat with their Hyves or Facebook friends, play minigames and post their activities in Eccky on their profile page.

MM Ventures (Michiel Mol & Maarten Elshove)
Michiel Mol co-founded Guerilla Games, a AAA game studio that was sold to Sony Computer Ent. Europe in 2006. Michiel co-founded Vanguard Entertainment Group, Lost Boys, Media Republic and flogs.com. He also co-owns the Force India Formula 1 team. Maarten Elshove worked at ABN AMRO and KPMG, after studying law at the University of Leiden. In 2000 he founded the Internet Credit Management company MaxCredible and in 2009 he started MM Ventures with Michiel Mol. MM Ventures funds innovative Internet Companies.
Amsterdam Park Capital (Stefanie & Gideon Richheimer)
The Dutch private investment entity Amsterdam Park Capital Ventures Fund, focusses on active participations and investments in companies which possess a strong technology, intellectual property and have the opportunity to become a branded segment leader. The portfolio consists of investments in enterprise software, social gaming, internet services and recruitment.
Yme & Thijs Bosma
Yme is VP of Business Development of Hyves, the most successful online company in The Netherlands. Yme is considered one of The Netherlands’ leading industry experts. Prior to joining Hyves, Yme was Director of Strategy at Media Republic as well as Lost Boys. Yme studied Business Administration at the Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Prior to founding TribePlay, Thijs worked for interactive agency Media Republic. In 2006 Thijs joined Spil Games Asia, where he gained extensive experience in marketing of games and virtual worlds while working with Chinese developers in the game development process. Thijs holds an MBA from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Team
The Eccky Team comprises of a CEO, chief editor, producer, community manager, multimedia designer and several player support personnel. The team has tremendous experience with internet, games and youth-oriented media.
