Parents Guide

Hey Parents! Good for you for checking out this section. Team Eccky encourages full parental involvement when it comes to your kids’ internet navigation, and you being here is great step toward understanding the Eccky game and therefore knowing what your kids are playing when they come here.

Parents’ Guidelines
Team Eccky sets down rules for our players, referred to as the Eccky House Rules, and similarly we set down guidelines for the parents of users under the age of 18, in hope that parents might contribute to ensuring the best possible, safest gameplay experience for your children. We cannot enforce these guidelines, but we certainly encourage you to follow them.

  • Make sure that you are familiar with the Eccky House Rules, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use
Use of the Eccky site constitutes agreement by the user with all of the guidelines, rules, and terms we set down. And specifically for parents, if your child is an Eccky player under the age of 18, your child’s use of the site also constitutes YOUR agreement with our House Rules, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use. It is therefore very important that you understand the rules and guidelines we set down. (This is guideline we do insist on!)

  • Supervise your kids’ internet use and establish household rules for navigating the internet safely
Team Eccky believes that the more parents know about what their kids on doing on the internet and the more families develop internet safety rules and abide by them, the better kids are protected from potential dangers on the internet by being able to avoid dangerous situations and also knowing what to do if they ever need help. So Team Eccky encourages parents to devise rules and strategies for safe internet usage. Below we provide a couple of resource links that might help you establish some household internet safety guidelines. We suggest the same links to Eccky players on the Safety Guide section of this site, so please review that section as well.

  • Contact Team Eccky with your questions!
Team Eccky vows to work with parents to make the Eccky site a safe and rewarding place for your kids to have fun. Should you have any questions about your children’s safety on the site, our House Rules, Privacy Policy, or our Terms of Use, please contact us by emailing team@eccky.com. We even welcome communication from parents who, for any reason, want their children’s Eccky registration deleted: if you don’t want your kids playing Eccky, we don’t want them to either. :) And we mean that in a good way…

Parent’s FAQ
We know that you’ll likely have lots of questions about what your kids are playing and here we outline some things about which you might have particular questions. We also encourage you to check out our comprehensive player’s FAQ, that explains most every aspect of the game.

What is Eccky?
Eccky is an online game, where players can make and raise a virtual character, either alone or with another player. There are two areas of Eccky; Eccky Basic and Eccky Platinum.  Players of Eccky Basic can play for free and have access to 4 Ecckies that are set at various age.  If the user would like to have the full Eccky experience, they can purchase an Eccky Platinum member.  A membership allows the user to create their own Ecckies.  These Ecckies grow over a six-day period, within which time a player feeds Eccky, plays with Eccky in Eccky’s virtual world, and can even chat with Eccky in-game and via MSN Messenger.  A more detailed description of the game is available in the FAQ.

Is Eccky safe for my kids to play?
Yes. Team Eccky maintains that the Eccky game site is a safe place for kids to have fun and interact with each other. We believe that when players understand and abide by our established House Rules (in concert with your household internet safety rules), and play and interact with each other cautiously, respectfully, and safely, there should in theory be no problem. We expressly prohibit players from behaving in an abusive, threatening (or in any way antisocial) manner anywhere in the Eccky environment, and we have abuse reporting and banning mechanisms in place to remove antagonistic players from the Eccky environment. The game does not by default ever display any user’s personal information and we expressly discourage players from giving out their own personal information on the site, and prohibit players from soliciting personal information from each other. Please review our Safety Guide to see what we outline for your kids to play it safe.

Do you collect personal information from my child?
Yes. Eccky registration includes the collection of some personal information. We would like to emphasize, however, that your child’s personal information is kept private and safe, and is not used for any reason other than for personalization and at times verification purposes of your child’s Eccky account. Please read the Eccky Privacy Policy for a full description of how your child’s personal information is collected and used.

Does Eccky comply with COPPA?
Yes, we do. Eccky complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) fully and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. We ask for users’ birthdates at registration and have mechanisms in place to block registration by underage users.

How much money is my child spending to play Eccky?
Registering and playing Eccky Basic is completely free!  If the user wishes to upgrade to Platinum Member status, they must purchase a membership.  Eccky Platinum memberships cost between $9.95 and $74.95.
