What is Eccky? Safety Parents FAQ Contact

Eccky works hard to provide her players with a safe game environment. We have deployed several measures to keep Eccky as safe as possible.

Chat filter
Any conversation that is entered into Eccky by it's players will pass through a chat filter before it is shared with other players. This chat filter will filter out any undesirable language and prevent that young children will be exposed to explicit language. The filter will replace any explicit words by spaces.

Ignoring unpleasant Ecckies
If an Eccky is behaving in an unpleasant manner, as perceived by your child, this player can be muted (ignored). By clicking on the Eccky and selecting the 'ignore' button, the Eccky will remain visible, but anything he or she says is no longer visible. If your child runs into a Eccky that is breaking the rules or misbehaving in any other way, this Eccky can be reported and appropriate measures will be taken to avoid misbehavior by this Eccky in the future.

Reporting a misbehaving Eccky
If an Eccky breaks the rules, he or she can be reported by any other Eccky. An Eccky can be reported by clicking on the Eccky and selecting the yellow exclamation mark. Moderators will receive the report and take appropriate action.

Moderation
Our moderators, which are employed by Eccky, keep an eye on what is going on in Eccky. Our moderators have experience with moderation of virtual worlds for children and know how to interact with children in a friendly and understandable way. If players have questions about Eccky, they can reach customer service in a very easy way right from within Eccky's virtual world. Moderators and customer service personnel aim to answer any request for assistance within 24 hours.

Moderators can block Ecckies
If an Eccky is reported, moderators will receive notice of the event. Moderators can retrieve any conversation or event in Eccky in the chat log, a file that logs all conversation inside Eccky for safety purposes. Moderators only read those parts of the chat log that is relevant to the report in question. Moderators will check if the reported player has in fact broken the Eccky rules and if that is the case they will block the player from Eccky for a certain amount of time, which is related to the severity of the misbehavior of the player in question. A ban can be limited to 24 hours for small offences, but will be permanent for players that threaten the safety and well-being of other players.

Discuss your child's online experience at home
Most children appreciate the opportunity to discuss their online experiences with their parents. For that very reason we advise to read Eccky's tips together with your child. We believe it is important that your child comes to you with any new experience, both good and bad.
